Eyes that hear

Updated: Jan 30, 2021

By Aarthy Iyengar

The importance of therapy is felt when one feels that no one around

really understands what they mean. Therapy gifts one with 'Eyes

that hear" ,that are trained for listening, that look beyond without

judging.

These eyes are passionate wanderers.

Soft, innocent, disappointed,

red, swollen, sunken,

looking back and forth for

the other, pair of eyes.

The ones that may neither doubt,

nor judge but just listen and

take me toward calm.

'Round me are 'eyes' that are stuck

in their sockets, refusing to look beyond.

A lookout for the ones

that understand my vantage point.

For now I am encaged,

not behind iron rods but

glassy walls of hope.

Eyes that hear are in need,

until, these eyes shall helplessly

wander back and forth.
